Cutting boards turned out to be a source of microplastics in food

A cutting board is an indispensable attribute of any kitchen. It greatly simplifies the process of cooking, making it more hygienic and safe. However, as it turned out, its use can provoke the emergence of a large amount of microplastics.

According to the results of a study recently conducted by Canadian experts, it was found that the use of a cutting board for 12 months causes the emergence of up to 79 million particles of this material. The reason for this is the gradual breakdown of the product and the release of tiny microplastic particles.
