In Arizona, wildlife experts met a one-year-old bear cub weighing only about 7 kilograms. And the animal is perfectly healthy. He was taken to one of the specialized nature parks.

According to the expert Dave O’Connell, in the United States, the offspring of the leopards appear in January-February, and the weight of the foundling should normally be at least 32 kg.

It is still unclear where exactly the baby was born. He was clearly not able to make it from the mountains to the valley on his own, having been separated from his mother. He was seriously threatened by coyotes, cougars, and even his own adult brethren.

American researchers have tested how dogs’ appearance affects their expressiveness from a human perspective. The study involved volunteers together with their dogs. In total – 103 favorites, average age – 5.2 years.

In the course of the study, the owners of the animals participated in a survey, took pictures of their pets’ muzzles and shot 4 half-minute videos with them each.

The dogs’ muzzles were studied with regard to their shape, symmetry, color and markings. The animals were also evaluated by strangers.

As the experiment demonstrated, the markings and coloration of the pets’ muzzles have the same effect on the perception of their muzzle expressions as the markings on the muzzles of great apes: those that are simpler are perceived as more expressive.

The researchers photographed the fish every time they jumped, repeating the experiment throughout the day. As a result, it turned out that some sharks were darker or lighter.

Then scientists in laboratory conditions examined a sample taken from one predator, where they were treated with different types of hormones.

Onychectomy, a surgery that removes claws in animals, particularly cats, comes with serious consequences, US scientists have found in a new study.

Researchers analyzed the consequences of onychectomy in various representatives of the feline family. As it turned out, in large animals as a result of surgical intervention lost muscle mass in the forearm by 73 percent, the strength of the forelimbs decreased by 46-66 percent.

Professor John Phillips compared the phenomenon to the visual effects we experience when we close our eyes after looking at light. The fatigued receptors in our case create patterns that are not actually present in nature. However, turtles and a number of other creatures see something similar thanks to the sensing of magnetic fields.

This peculiar visual effect is a special coordinate system that allows animals to orient themselves in space. Instead of determining the direction from point A to point B, they use magnetic fields to determine their location in an unknown environment.
