Why do astronomers need disco balls?

Placing a mirrored ball in a room with the sun shining through a window projects small images of the star all over the walls, almost in the same way that the lights of a club are reflected on the walls and dancers.

With a total solar eclipse approaching in April 2024, astronomers are looking for ways to massively display the unique phenomenon to a wide range of people. In their opinion, the disco ball is a universal tool to achieve educational goals.
