Guy Ritchie is no longer listed as the director of the remake of Disney’s Hercules. Such information was shared by insider Daniel Richtman.
Ritchie took over the post in 2022. The reasons for his refusal, from the movie, are not specified. Previously, the director filmed for Disney a remake of “Aladdin” with Will Smith. Producers of the new “Hercules” are Anthony and Joe Russo (“The Avengers”), and on the script worked Dave Callaham (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”).
The original “Hercules” came out in 1997 and was about an ancient Greek god who was turned into a mere mortal. The remake was supposed to be an “experimental” reading of Disney’s animated classic and would be inspired by clips from the TikTok network.
