Betavolt nuclear batteries could last up to 50 years

The startup’s bottleneck is the claimed lifespan of 50 years, as existing analogs have a 20-year operating limit. And the energy they emit is not enough to run devices more complex than specialized scientific and experimental equipment. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission recently launched an investigation into NBD, a company that promised future customers similar batteries with a lifespan of thousands of years, but created nothing after collecting investments.
